The first block of each row should alternate horizontally or vertically, as shown. For the small quilt, make three rows of three blocks each. For the twin quilt, make seven rows of five blocks each. 2 Sew the blocks into rows.

Sew the rows together to complete the quilt top. 3 Carefully press and square off the quilt top, and prepare the backing and batting. Layer and pin the quilt, referring to page 36.
